This is the training App for Kukkiwon Pattern 1 (Taegeuk Il Jang).

Taegeuk 1 Jang represents Heaven and light and symbolises the divination sign of Keon or the creation of the universe. As such this poomse should be thought of as the beginning of Taekwondo training.
Heaven gives us rain whilst the sun gives us light and makes things grow. This Taegeuk forms the basis for future complex movements. When performing this form the mind should be clear and allow all the basic techniques to flow.

This application is a video demonstration by Master Lee Heyes.

Master Lee Heyes 6th Dan Kukkiwon was one of a handful of UK instructors to attend the course and graduate with the prestigious title of International Instructor. On completion all the masters who attended the course were instructed by the Kukkiwon President Woon Kyu Uhm to promote Unified Taekwondo to the International Taekwondo community. This site contains information and materials aimed at promoting Unified Taekwondo as directed by the Kukkiwon.

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art and sport characterised by its spectacular kicks and strikes. With over 60 million global practitioners, Taekwondo has quickly become the worlds most popular martial art. This rapid growth since its origins in the latter 20th Century has created a diversity in styles and training techniques.

In 2005 the World Taekwondo Headquarters (Kukkiwon) acted to unify Taekwondo technique across the member nations of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) and the countless independent organisations practicing Taegeuk based Taekwondo. The revised Taekwondo textbook detailed the most sweeping changes to taekwondo technique since the original was published 18 years previously and was first presented in detail to the international community at the 12th World Taekwondo Foreign Instructors Course held at the Kukkiwon in July 2006.
